When Josh Ozersky dropped us a line earlier this summer asking if we wanted to be the official ice cream of Meatopia, we, of course, said yes. Scooping next to 35 top chefs cooking all kinds of meat in every conceivable way? Yes, please.

Then we got to talking. Rather than just bringing our standard festival setup—a couple of mobile dipping cabinets and a tent, basically—what if we brought along our Street Treats truck and scooped out of it, too?

Who cares if Randall’s Island is a 10-hour drive from Columbus and the truck tops out at 55 mph. This is Meatopia. Balls to the wall.

And, if we’re going to drive Street Treats all the way to New York, we might as well stick around for a while and scoop in the city, too…

So this Saturday, September 8, the Jeni’s NYC Street Treats Truck Tour kicks off on Randall’s Island at Meatopia. You can find us in between Carcass Hill and the Whole Foods Stage (map here), scooping Yazoo Sue with Rosemary Bar Nuts and our can’t-get-it-anywhere-else-but-here Rainbow Frozen Yogurt.

Then, the whole week after, you can catch the Street Treats truck scooping for free at some of our favorite retail partners throughout Brooklyn and NYC:

There’s a tour map and schedule below (click to enlarge).

Stay tuned and follow along with the #jenisnyc hashtag—there could very well be some unannounced stops along the way…

Please send new flavors to NYC – waiting to see roasted strawberry buttermilk at Dean and DeLuca or Murray’s!

Paul, we’ll pass along your request to both spots. If they order it, we’ll send it.

I’m so excited to see you in NYC! My in-laws introduced me to Jeni’s ice cream in Ohio and now addicted! See you on Monday on Madison Ave. My fav is Wildberry Lavendar :)

Perhaps one of the things I miss most about Columbus is Jeni’s Ice Cream, and I had no idea it could be bought in NYC. I hope one day that will be true for Philadelphia too! Philly needs Jeni’s!

Any chance you want to distribute free tastes at a special community event we are hosting here at the Arboretum (Summit, NJ) on Saturday, Sept. 22nd? It is about healthy choices – exercise, food, etc. and all part of our Healthy Hike initiative, based upon First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” program.

Sorry, Frank. The Street Treats truck and our team will be scooping at Farm Aid in Hersey, PA, that day. Sounds like a great event, though!

Thanks for getting back. Our loss I’m sure. Any chance you guys are around the following Friday, the 28th, for a different event at the Arboretum?
Good luck in all your efforts.

Unfortunately not. Meatopia was the catalyst for this trip and then we’re only around for the week after — though of course we wish we could stay longer or come back sooner.

while your in ny… you might visit west point and honor those military soldiers and their families… plus, it is just a cool place to visit and see all the history there. I know you probably have quite a schedule already, but, hey, can’t blame me for wanting you to visit my son :)

Thanks, Julie. Never been to West Point, that’s a great idea. Unfortunately our schedule is jam packed already. But it’s now on the list for next time. Thanks to your son for serving our country.

Any chance you’ll be in union square during your trip to NY? Also, do you sell Jeni’s ice cream at NY stores year round? Jeni’s is the best!

Not this time around, Madeline. But you can buy Jeni’s in NYC year round—here’s where: http://jen.is/OaSJKP

I wonder if “stalking the Jeni’s truck all over the city” is a legitimate excuse for taking a few days off of work.

I guess I’m about to find out…

P.S. The best things in NYC come from OH. Like me.

No stops in Queens? We need good ice cream, too, you know. And we’re very polite and appreciative.

We’re scooping at places that carry our pints and could get us a spot to park the truck. Nobody has our pints in Queens (yet). Know a spot that’d be a good fit?

You should come to The Garden in Greenpoint, Brooklyn (just across the bridge from Long Island City, Queens). They have your pints for sale (and that’s where I discovered Jeni’s!)

There is a great high end food store opening soon On Houston St. and Ave. A in NYC called Union Market. You might be familiar with their Brooklyn locations. Jeni’s would be a great fit there, and you are shockingly unavailable in an area of the city (East Village) where you would do very well!
